These more underlying forms of trauma are just as important to address as acute PTSD and our therapists are high-skilled at identifying these issues and helping you work through them.
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can result from either witnessing or experiencing a traumatic event or events.
Traumatic events can be: the threat of or loss of life, physical or sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or loss. Symptoms can present as: intrusive thoughts of the event, dreams related to the event, flashbacks to the event, avoidance of reminders of the event, dissociation, and negative mood and thought processes related to event.
Other symptoms are: delayed responses, hyper-vigilance, impaired concentration and sleep, and reckless and reactive behaviors. We are aware all traumas can have a negative effect on daily functioning and fulfillment with life.
