Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy is for anyone and everyone who is willing to participate, not only people with severe or diagnosed mental illness. Due to the personal nature of therapy, we can't say if therapy is right for you. If you feel anxious or depressed, have experienced trauma or loss, or if you feel the need to make changes in your life in order to be the best you, we can help with that.
  • What is therapy like?
Therapy is a highly personal thing, so the differences between any two clients' sessions can be enormous! Some sessions will be emotionally intense, others will be calm and relaxed. Therapy is tailored to fit each client's needs so that it can be exactly what you need.
  • How long does therapy last?
Our sessions typically last one hour, but sessions can vary in length. Depending on the needs of the client, sessions may be as short as 30 or 45 minutes. At times, sessions may also run over.
  • What should I expect during our first session?
The first session, also called the "Intake" session, is where you will first sit down and talk with your therapist. During this hour, you and your therapist will begin getting to know one another. You can ask any questions about the ins and outs of therapy and they will have questions for you, like what the issues you want to target in your therapy are or what goals you have. You will likely identify some goals and the two of you will start to build a treatment plan that will inform your later sessions.
  • Do you prescribe medication?
