Dissociative Disorders
Dissociative disorders involve problems with memory, identity, emotion, perception, behavior and sense of self.
Dissociate Identity Disorder usually first develops as a response to a traumatic event, either witnessed or experienced. Stressful situations or , “triggers”, can worsen symptoms and impair daily functioning.
Symptoms can present as: significant memory/time loss, depersonalization, derealization, depression, anxiety, and personality changes that a person may not even be aware of.
If you have concerns with symptoms that are not accounted for by any medical conditions, an assessment for DID would be a recommended step in your healing process. Please contact our office if you think you may need an assessment for DID.
If you feel you’re ready to begin your mental health journey, the first step is to contact Foundation Counseling Center by phone at (256)-497-1790 online to discuss the type of therapy (individual, family, or group) you are seeking.
